I am german. I think the name Florian is originally from Bavaria. At least thats what I heard.

Oh really? No kidding... :) Anyway,Florin is my brother's name and "flori" in romanian means flowers. We also celebratate a religious holiday called "Florii" :)
So that's why I still see "Florian" as an eastern european name :D

odd that flori means flower in romanian. I never knew the eastern european languages have been so influenced by latin.
